Co2 Laser Surgery and Resurfacing

Co2 ablative laser resurfacing has been the "Gold Standard" for non surgical facial rejuvenation and removal of facial skin wrinkles and photo aging since 1995. S.P.Derma Center was one of the first clinics to introduce Co2 Laser in 2004. Since then an average of 75 - 80 Co2 Laser treatments are being performed in a month proving the safety and efficacy of Co2 laser based cosmetic surgeries.

Co2 Laser

Advent of short-pulsed high energy that limit skin heating has revolutionized laser skin resurfacing. These lasers are capable of removing layers of skin and unwanted tissue in an impressively precise fashion, leaving only a narrow zone of thermal necrosis.

Co2 ablative laser resurfacing using the Ultrapulse CO2 laser can achieve very significant facial rejuvenation including wrinkle removal, skin tightening and removal of pigment and photo aging skin changes.

At S.P.Derma Center we use Co2 Laser imported from Korea (Seoul) which has three modes of operation namely  Continuous mode, Super-Pulse mode, Ultra-Pulse mode.

The Continuous mode is used for removal of Fibroma, Keloids, Hypertrophic scars.

The Super-Pulse mode for precise removal of unwanted skin growths and skin resurfacing.

The Ultra-Pulse mode for superficial skin removal and skin tightening.

How does it feel during the treatment

Topical Anaesthetic is applied one hour prior to the procedure or injected which numb the area to be treated and makes the procedure relatively painless and acceptable. A slight pricking pain might be felt after the procedure for which analgesics are prescribed.

What should I expect after the treatment?

The Laser treated area is treated with epidermal growth factor which heals the wound in 3 - 5 days reducing the discomfort. Skin healing would normally take 10 - 15 days which is shortened by this technique. The skin will scab and fall off in fews days revealing normal looking skin

How many treatments are necessary?

Usually one treatment is sufficient for most procedures except scars , keloids and larger tissue which would require 3 - 4 treatments.

Side effects?

The skin can become red immediately after treatment. Scabbing and pigemntation are common which can be treated in few days. No permanent side effect is seen.

Time taken for each treatment?

Treatment can take from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on which area is being treated.
