Targeted Excimer Phototherapy

Vitiligo treated by Targeted Excimer Phototherapy

Daavlin Targeted Excimer Phototherapy which uses the most specific 308nm wavelength imported from Daavlin U.S.A. It was imported both for the purpose of providing more advanced treatment for conditions like localized Psoriasis, Vitiligo / Leucoderma and other phototherapy treatable conditions, and also to provide treatment at a lesser cost.

Lumera Targeted Excimer Phototherapy

The Lumera targeted system was developed to deliver exceptional comfort, ease of use and shorter exposure due to its latest 308nm technology. It is an advanced UVB energy delivery system not only for precise and safe treatment of psoriasis, vitiligo & atopic eczema but also has the safety to be used in children reducing exposure to unwanted areas.

In Fact, Targeted Excimer Phototherapy introduced in 2009 at our clinic was one of the first machine of its kind in South India (Kerala, Tamilnadu, Karnataka). It changed the way we treated vitiligo in our clinic.  In particular, it’s a boon for patients who have localized vitiligo or leucodermatous patch and want a faster recovery from the condition.

Specifically, it helped in delivering the treatment only to the affected skin because of its special filters and the latest fiber optic technology. Unlike the full exposure chambers which were not useful in smaller and hidden lesions, this technology certainly helped in treating difficult areas.

Full body phototherapy requires a regular 3 days a week visit to the clinic for 6 – 8 months. But with Lumera we do only 4 – 6 times a month for 2-3 months reducing the number of visits to the clinic. Also, this delivered a quicker and faster cure for the condition of our patients.

The benefit to our patients:

For some patients coming 3 days a week for treatment increased their expense and time spent. For that reason, they were happy to get treated by Lumera which shortened their visits and cost by 60 – 70%.

Important to realize is that we have patients who come to S.P.Derma Center from as far as 250 – 300 km away to get treated. In that case for them, one visit a week is more than enough for a period of 4 -6 months to give complete repigmentation in vitiligo.

Above all, it improved patient compliance and therefore the patient was able to get the best results from this advanced system.

The Lumera Beam localizes the treatment to areas where the hair is not a barrier.

  • Pinpoints phototherapy to specifically target small lesions.
  • Precision output treats lesional skin tissue therefore doesn’t non-involved skin areas.
  • Leading-edge technology through fiberoptic filaments with light-conducting spheres at the end of each filament.
  • Most important is it uses focussed light on the scalp skin, bypassing the hair.
  • Scalp therapy with the Lumera Brush is target specific and faster repigmentation
